The University of Oregon is the top school for tax research in the world once again, according to newly released rankings compiled by Brigham Young University (BYU).

Long a highly ranked institution for tax research, the University of Oregon also earned the #1 spot in 2018.

Tax research powerhouses Indiana University–Bloomington, Texas A&M University, University of California–Irvine, and University of Texas–Austin rounded out the top five this year.

The accounting research rankings are divided into three time periods: The most recent 6 years, the most recent 12 years, and all publications since 1990. The University of Oregon ranked #1 in the most recent 6 years, as well as the most recent 12 years. We rank #3 for all years.

Also noteworthy is the University of Oregon’s jump to #32 (out of 395 universities) for financial archival research.

“This is especially impressive when you consider that the rankings do not adjust for the size of faculty,” explained Angela Davis, Jack O. Rickli Professor of Business and director of the School of Accounting at the Lundquist College of Business. “We have fewer faculty members than many comparator institutions, so these rankings illustrate the profound impact of the hard work of our exceptional faculty.”

This high level of productivity not only benefits the discipline, but the long term success of our students. In fact, 43 listed authors appearing in the rankings earned their PhD at the University of Oregon.
